G & G Law is Growing!

G & G Law, LLC is hiring an attorney to practice transactional business law. This is the perfect position for applicants who want to deliver boldly excellent legal services to small and mid-sized businesses – those who love esoteric legalese need not apply. We’re looking for candidates who connect with our mission to make legal services accessible to small businesses and our goal to earn long-term relationships with our clients.

Candidates should be able to listen to our entrepreneur clients, efficiently help solve their problems, and educate and empower them without talking down to them.

Our office is located at 4619 N. Ravenswood Ave, on the north side of Chicago.

One of our values is “Happy Lawyers.” To us, this benefits both our team and our clients. While we strive to provide the same quality of work as big law firms, we recognize that our attorneys do and should have rich and fulfilling lives outside the firm. We charge our clients on a flat fee basis as much as possible and don’t have a billable hours requirement for attorneys. We expect our attorneys to work a regular, 9-5 schedule (no 80-hour weeks here!), and we can also make the schedule somewhat flexible or include one or two remote days per week for the right candidate. In accordance with public health guidance, we’re granting additional allowances for remote work until the coronavirus pandemic abates.

 

Opportunities for professional growth. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Work Will Include:

The position will involve providing transactional legal services, working directly with our small business clients and the G & G Law team.

It will also involve business development work. This includes incorporating technology, helping to develop processes, driving constant improvement, drafting educational materials for newsletters and the website, giving presentations, etc.

Requirements*:

  • Excellent writing skills. Can draft excellent legal documents AND engaging educational materials. Writing should be direct and clear. We hate legalese almost as much as our clients do.
  • Growth mindset – ability and motivation to develop skills and apply them to efficiently serve clients.
  • Problem solver. Collaborative, team worker.
  • 1-2 years business law experience. Willing to train the right candidate who can demonstrate an interest in entrepreneurial law.
  • Desire to make legal services accessible to an under-served market. Creative, out-of-the-box thinking often required to meet the efficiency demands of our clients.
  • Able to prioritize and efficiently manage projects from beginning to end.
  • Comfortable working in a law firm in growth mode. Enthusiastic to update processes and find ways to incorporate technology when it will benefit our clients.
  • Professional and friendly client-facing demeanor.
  • JD and admitted to practice in Illinois or taking the Bar within the next three months.
  • GPA: 3.25 or above or in top 30% of the class.
