Michelle lives in the Ravenswood Manor community in Chicago with her husband, John. When not working hard for her clients, she loves walking to nearby Horner Park to play some softball, tennis, or to just relax with a book in the grass. You can also often find her frequenting the shops and restaurants in nearby Lincoln Square and Andersonville.
Michelle came to Chicago (from Michigan) right after college as a Teach for America corps member to teach seventh grade at an underprivileged school on the west side. She has lived in Chicago since then and now considers it and her Ravenswood Manor community home. She still loves teaching and tutors students in her spare time. Michelle finds that her background in teaching has been an asset in practicing law, as she is able to clearly explain even the most complex legal issues to her clients.
Michelle graduated, cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While there, she received CALI awards for the highest grades in First Amendment Law and Labor Law. She grew up in Muskegon, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. While at MSU, she was a member of the Honors College and attended James Madison College, a renowned residential public policy program.
Michelle can relate to her start-up and entrepreneurial clients as a business owner herself. She gained extensive entrepreneurial and start-up experience as a founder and part owner of Next Step Test Preparation, LLC, which has prepared over 1,500 students (and counting!) for graduate level exams since its inception in 2009.
Prior to opening the doors to G & G Law, Michelle gained invaluable legal experience as a legal intern for Michigan Supreme Court Justice, Justice Weaver (now retired) and practical experience as a paralegal and law clerk in mid-sized law firms in Chicago.
